Exploring Still Life in Oil
Advanced Techniques for Capturing Light and Depth in Your Paintings

with Laura Robb
January 15 - 22, 2020

"Magic is created between the your brush, the arrangement, and the canvas. Your paintings never....ever....disappoint! You are an amazing Teacher, Artist, and keeper of some cool fur critters! "
(Nancy Delpero)

This workshop is for students who are serious about improving their skills of observation and want to understand how to make use of their palette to its full advantage.

The instructor will explain and show through demonstration studies how certain effects of light and depth can be achieved.
She will also try to help identify materials or procedures a student may be using that are getting in the way of their progress.

We will discuss composition, technique, principles of light and shade,
and a range of other painting related topics. Almost all of the lessons will apply to any medium or subject matter but the focus will be specific to still life in oil.

Demonstrations will be done with the intent of illustrating how to handle specific problems rather than producing an finished painting
and during the class students will be encouraged to adopt a similar attitude with the emphasis on learning and study.

We will be working from life throughout the workshop and previous experience in mixing color will be necessary.

It will be 4 days of intense concentration --but fun too! Bring a sense of humor.
